IT Defense: Privacy Policy
Last updated 19 October 2026
IT Defense is a tower defense game for phones and tablets, made by KaoTechnologies LLC, a Massachusetts company (“we”, “us”). This page says what the game does with your information. It is short because the game collects nothing.
Questions or requests: support@kaotechnologies.net
The short version
- The game does not collect, send or share any information about you. It does not connect to the internet to play (only the app store itself connects, when you buy or restore a purchase). There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics, no crash-reporting tools and no tracking.
- Your progress and settings stay on your device. They are saved in the app’s own storage on your phone or tablet and nowhere else. We never see them.
- The app store handles purchases. If you buy the Full Campaign, Apple or Google takes the payment. We never see your card, your name or your email address.
What is saved on your device
The game keeps four small items in its own storage on your device so you can pick up where you left off:
- Your campaign: the wave you reached, your budget, where your towers are and how upgraded they are, and the campaign’s seed (a number that decides the network layouts).
- Your settings: volume, picture quality, the accessibility switches (reduced motion, high contrast, and so on), and whether you have seen the tutorial.
- Your lifetime statistics: how many campaigns you have played, your best wave, and kill counts by tower and by threat.
- The list of threats you have met, which fills the in-game threat database.
None of this is personal information, none of it is sent anywhere, and none of it can identify you. Deleting the app removes all of it. Starting a new campaign replaces the saved one.
The seed box
When you start a campaign you can type any word or phrase into the seed box to get the same network layouts a friend gets. The game turns your text into a number (a “hash”) on your device and then forgets the text. Only the number is saved, as part of your campaign, and it is shown as a six-character code. The text you typed is never saved, sent or shared. The Copy button on the pause screen puts that code on your clipboard so you can give it to a friend; the game only writes to the clipboard, it never reads what is on it.
Purchases
The first part of the game is free. A one-time purchase, the Full Campaign, unlocks the rest. The purchase is made and processed entirely by the app store you downloaded the game from (Google Play or the Apple App Store), under that store’s own terms and privacy policy. The store tells the game only that the unlock has been bought, and the game remembers that on your device so it works offline. We never receive your name, email address, card or other payment details. The stores send us sales totals (how many sold, in which country, for how much) that do not say who bought. If you reinstall the game or move to a new phone, the Restore Purchases button asks the same store to confirm your purchase again.
What we do not do
- We do not ask you to make an account or to give us a name or email address.
- We do not show advertising, and we do not work with advertising or analytics companies.
- We do not track you, build a profile of you, or follow you from one app or website to another.
- We do not sell or share information about you. We have none to sell or share.
- The game asks for no special permissions on your device: no camera, no microphone, no contacts, no photos, no location and no notifications.
- The game has no chat or messaging between players, and no way to post or share anything from inside it.
Software the game is built with
The game is made with open-source software (the Phaser game framework and three fonts) whose licences are listed under Open-source notices in the game. None of it collects data, and the fonts are part of the app, not downloaded.
Children
IT Defense is made for teenagers and adults (ages 13 and up) and is not aimed at young children. Because the game collects no information at all, it collects none from children either. If you believe a child has sent us information in some other way, write to us at the address above and we will delete it.
The app stores
Google and Apple have their own rules about what they collect when you download or buy an app (for example your account, your purchases, and crash reports if you have turned them on). That is between you and them: see Google’s privacy policy and Apple’s privacy policy.
Where we are
KaoTechnologies LLC is a Massachusetts, United States, company. Because the game keeps nothing of yours on our side, there is nothing for us to store, move between countries, show you, correct or delete. Everything the game remembers is on your own device, and you can remove it by deleting the app.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top, and the app’s listing will point to the new version. If a later version of the game ever needs to collect anything, the policy will say so before that version is released.
